Meet our crew...
Dedication. Expertise. Passion.

Michael Hirsch (Hirschy)
Owner and Captain
Hirschy spends most of his time as a Production Specialist (operations) in Oil & Gas and has commissioned the majority of the largest LNG Projects in Australia. His passion has always been boats and he has built an impressive fleet. The fleets flagship is the mighty Cervus. Nothing is too serious in his world except for the safety of his passengers and crew and ensuring all his clients have a memorable experience.
Hirschy has a Master Class V and MED III of over 23 Years and has extensive knowledge of the East Coat of Australia including Sydney Harbour, The Hawkesbury River, Gold Coast, Moreton Bay, The Whitsundays, Townsville, Cairns and Beyond.

Andrew VG (Shrek)
Relief Captain
Shrek is an amazing Marine Professional holding a Master IV and MED II. He has delivered various vessels all over Australia and up to PNG. He is an experienced tug master and one of the very few people Hirschy will let command any of his vessels. He started working on fishing vessels out of Tweed Heads in the mid 90s and. Has successfully turned is hand to everything marine since then. He is no stranger to high risk work and oversaw the clean up of a Uranium Tailings Dam (2022-2023)
One of Shreks latest accomplishments was the successful and safe delivery of Cervus to Brisbane to outrun Tropical Cyclone Freddy in March 2023.

Melissa Mc (Mel)
Stylist and Host
Mel has an exciting career in the insurance industry but spends most of her downtime hanging out and helping with Cervus Charters. Mel has an amazing ability to make people feel welcomed aboard. Her passion for the marine industry goes back years and she has recently taken command and acquired marine licences. If she is not tearing up the waterways on one of the Jetskis she is usually found pretty close to the captain.

Peter Chippindale (Chippy)
Maintanence and Re-fits
Chippy is a Licenced Builder with 40+ yrs experience in commercial building. A very experienced sailor running his own 60’ Steel Yacht. In the past, Chippy has run his own successful charter boat company on Sydney Harbour and has cruised the East Coast and the Pacific Ocean up to Micronesia. Chippy oversaw the refurbishment of Cervus up in Cairns in 2022 including rebuilding of Pumping Systems major replacement and installation of doors, battery systems and all of the vessels white goods including fridges, air conditioning units, washing machine and dishwasher. Modifications to boat hook, marlin board and. Tender vessel.

Oz Cassar (Stray-ya / Sheep Dog)
Social Director / Party Instigator
The ultimate party host… brings a great vibe to any occasion. Loves the Aussie Outdoors and has a particular love for the waterways. Stray-ya originally was imported from Malta and runs a very successful building and renovation company. He does not have an off switch which is sometimes difficult as the rest of the crew struggle to keep pace. If he is the party host on your particular event, be extremely careful with the abundant use of the code word “Sheepdog”. He is in the process of getting a faster Jet ski, then nothing will slow this legend down.

Derrick
Fishing and FNQ Guide
Derick has spent a lifetime on boats but has recently decided to live a more subdued life, calling the islands of Morton Bay home. A very experienced cruiser and the most amazing chef. Derick formerly lives aboard in Far North Queensland and when not living a rugged life hunting and living off the reef, specialises in security and Information technology.
It was credit to Derick that the headsail on Cervus now works to its full potential, as every other marine professional are still scratching their heads as to its capabilities.

Scott Mc (Scooter)
Aeronautics, Fishing and Subsea Maintenance
Scooter is a recent addition to the crew of Cervus, the Man can turn his hand to anything. An avid fisherman, recently running his own boat up to Lady Musgrave for a bit of family time. A recognised botanist and Microlight pilot, gets involved in all interesting projects including running support vehicles for the Baja 1000 in Mexico. Very handy on the tools and the go-to for procurement. Scooter steps up to the plate and is happy to check the underwater running gear of the boat at any time, day, or night.
